Get the chance to visit the majestic Maligcong Rice Terraces. Situtated in Bontoc, the historical capital of the Cordilleras and home of the Bontoc tribe, the Maligcong Rice Terraces offers a wonderful experience of nature, culture and adventure. This relaxing trek will get you to trek its famous rice terraces. Also, on this trip you'll get to hike two mountains! Experience the sunset at the summit of Mt. Fato and experience the beautiful sunrise in Mt Kupapey.


Day 1
09:00 PM (Day 0) Registration.
10:00 PM Depart for Bontoc.
07:00 AM (Day 1) ETA Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) Bontoc. Breakfast and visit Bontoc Museum.
10:00 AM Board jeepney to Maligcong.
11:00 AM ETA Maligcong. Check-in at guesthouse.
12:00 PM Lunch. Rest and easy.
03:30 PM Start trek to Mt. Fato.
05:00 PM ETA summit of Mt.Fato. Sunset viewing.
06:00 PM Start descent back to guesthouse.
07:00 PM ETA guesthouse. Dinner.
08:00 PM Lights out.
Day 2
03:00 AM Light breakfast. Prepare for summit assault of Mt. Kupapey.
03:30 AM Start hike to Mt.Kupapey.
05:30 AM ETA summit. Sunrise viewing.
06:30 AM Start descent. *option to trek around Maligcong rice terraces.
09:30 AM Back at guesthouse. Breakfast. Free time.
01:00 PM Lunch. Depart back to Bontoc.
02:00 PM ETA Bontoc. Go around Bontoc.
05:30 PM Take bus back to Manila.

02:30 AM ETA Manila.

1. How do we get to Maligcong?
A 8-10 hour bus ride from Manila to Bontoc, followed by a 45 minute Jeepney ride to our guest house.

2. Is the climb difficult?
We will doing two hikes for this trip. Mt. Fato and Mt. Kupapey. Both are considered minor hikes. The most difficult of them would be Mt.Kupapey with a difficulty of 3/10, 10 being the hardest. This is definitely a good trip for those who wish to take it easy or for those who are just starting to hike.

5. Is there cell phone signal?
In Maligcong, cell phone signal very sporadic and unreliable. 

6. Where do we stay?
We will be staying in local lodges/guesthouses. These are very simple accommodations where a room is shared with 2-6 people, interaction with the owners and locals are many with beds and pillows being provided. Restrooms are communal and hot water can be requested for a minimal fee.

7. What food will be served?
All food will be locally prepared. Pork, chicken and vegetables are the main ingredients it most meals. Food can be cooked adobo style or nilaga. Vegetables are very good and are a staple in the area.

8. How cold does it get?
Usually temperatures at night and early morning range from 15-20deg. If it rains it gets colder.
