Overview

The province of Rizal has become a haven for adventurers and mountaineers alike, especially at the town of Rodriguez. One of the many mountains located there is Mt. Ayaas, which is just an hour away from Metro Manila. Standing at 627 meters above sea level, Mt. Ayaas offers amazing views of the Sierra Madre and its neighboring mountains, including Mt. Pamitinan, Mt. Binacayan and Mt. Hapunang Banoi. It is a gateway to the vast Sierra Madre mountain range that hikers cannot miss.

Mt. Ayaas offers a moderately challenging day-hike that passes through rivers, dense forests and exposed grasslands on the way to the summit. It is also advisable for beginners as the mountain features gentle slopes, while gradually increasing difficulty as you go higher up the mountain. From the summit, hikers could take a rest while admiring the views of the mountains nearby.
