Overview

If you are looking for a hiking adventure outside the Philippines that’s not too far, then one of the mountains that Trail Adventours highly recommends is Mt. Kerinci. Mt. Kerinci or Mt. Kerintji is located in Sumatra, Indonesia. Standing at 3, 805 masl, it is the second highest mountain in the said country, and the second highest volcano in the Southeast Asia region. The mountain is also referred to as Peak of Indrapura. To those who are looking for a whole new level of nature trip, Mt. Kerinci is a perfect destination. The mountain serves as a home to Sumatran rhinos, tigers and elephants. Mt. Kerinci is very rich in natural resources. In fact, aside from forests, it also has a total of 15 great lakes. In order to reach the summit, a mountaineer must be prepared to trek through lush tropical rainforests for 7 hours and 3 hours on gravel and sand. This may be challenging to some hikers, but the overall experience is definitely worth it.

07:25 AM (Juy 25) Depart from Kuala Lumpur to Padang, Indonesia.
08:00 AM Arrival in Padang Indonesia. Breakfast. Ride vehicle to Jambi Province, location of Mt. Kerinci. Lunch along the way.
03:00 PM Arrival at Jambi Province. Check in. Rest and easy.
Day 1
08:00 AM (July 26) Breakfast. Ride vehicle to the jump-off point.
10:00 AM ETA jump-off point. Start trek along the magical forest of Mt. Kerinci with its rich flora and fauna!
12:00 PM Lunch along the trail.
05:00 PM ETA Camp site. Rest. Dinner.
07:00 PM Early lights out.
Day 2
04:30 AM (July 27) Early morning assault to the summit.
06:00 AM ETA summit. Experience the summit with its 360 degree view. Explore the area.
07:30 AM Start descent.
09:00 AM ETA Camp site. Breakfast. Descend back to jump-off point.
03:00 PM ETA jump-off point. Drive back to home-stay.
04:30 PM ETA homestay. Check in. Rest and easy.
07:00 PM Dinner.
Day 3
08:00 AM (July 28) Free day to explore the town. Trek on lakes.
Day 4
08:30 AM (July 29) Breakfast. Depart back to Padang City. Lunch along the way.
03:00 PM ETA Padang. Check in. Explore the city.
Day 5
09:00 AM (July 30) Travel back to Manila via Malaysia.
