If you want to try a day hike away from Manila’s heat, Mt. Ulap will suit you well. Situated in Itogan, Benguet, this mountain is known for its scenic view of the Cordilleras while trekking the grassland and pine tree ridges.  If lucky with good weather, one can even see Mt. Arayat, Mt. Ugo and Mt. Pulag.

 There are 3 peaks in this destination. First is Ambanao Paoay Peak where hikers are welcomed with Pine trees and occasional crows. Second is Gungal peak which is popular for the big Gungal Rock were taking photos is a must. Third is Mt. Ulap with a height of 1,846 masl.

On your way down, 3 Pong-Ol burial caves of the local’s ancestors can be visited. Sacred to the locals, Pong-Ol are venues where the Igorots practice their canao or feast.

08:00 PM Meet up and Registration at Victory Liner , Pasay Terminal. (Day 0)
09:00 PM Depart for Baguio City. (Day 0)
03:00 AM ETA Baguio. Depart for Mt. Ulap, early breakfast along the way. (Day 1)
04:30 AM ETA Mt. Ulap. Orientation and final reminders. Start trek.
06:30 AM ETA Gungol Rocks. Proceed to summit.
09:00 AM ETA Summit. Early lunch.
10:00 AM Start descent. Pass by burial caves.
02:00 PM End of trek. Take jeep back to DENR.
03:30 PM ETA DENR. Wash up
04:30 PM Depart for Baguio.
05:30 PM ETA Baguio. Free time.
08:00 PM Depart for Manila.
02:00 AM ETA Manila. (Day 2)

1. How do we get there?
We will be taking the bus for Manila-Baguio and a chartered jeep for Baguio-Mt. Ulap. 

2. Is the climb ideal for beginners?
Yes but one needs to be physically fit and healthy. This is a 3-4 hour ascent to the summit and another 3 hour for the descent. However, when it rains the trails gets really muddy making the hike extra challenging. 

3. Are there restrooms?
There are restrooms at the jump-off point. It is possible to take a bath here. 

4. Can we stay longer in Baguio after the hike?
We depart for Manila at 8pm. If you wish to stay longer in Baguio, like staying until the next day,  just inform us beforehand and we can arrange this for you.
